If you have been around my blog for a bit,

you know I have been a fan of Spring Awakening for a while now.

But "fan" doesn't really cover my feelings for this show...

Obsession.

Addiction.

Intense love.

ZOMYGOSHIFREAKINGLOVETHISSHOW!!!

...work much better, no doubt.

So back in October (or something) 

when the 2nd National Tour was announced,

I. WAS. IN!

Spring Awakening returned to the Denver Center this week--

aaaaaand basically I *DIED* two nights in a row.

I don't even know if I can find the words..

This show means so much to me.

I miss it so much already.

I was lucky enough to go both nights in Denver.

&& not gonna lie, my heart is breaking over not knowing

when I will be able to lose myself in the live atmosphere of this

beautiful, hypnotic, fantastic, emotional roller-coaster show again...

What I do know is that next time SA returns to a stage near me,

I. AM. THERE. At least 3 more times. SRS, FRC & SLS baby!

As for this tour...

It still has 42 cities to hit up in the US & Canada.

So whether or not you have seen Spring Awakening,

I strongly suggest that you see if your city is listed here.

I mean then you can brag about it to me on your blog!

Sarah & I drove out to Loveland to carpool down to Denver with Chris.

We did an emergency Target run so Chris could buy a shirt.
He was wearing his Guilty Ones shirt. We weren't.

We found a wall of hats...

 ...and thus this picture was born!

We drove to Denver.
We got distracted and off course.
We parked.
We walked in the 1° weather.
We got to Hard Rock.
We smiled at our contact, Heidi.
We saw the cast members sitting around eating.
We got awkward and nervous.
We said 'hi' to a table of cast members and small talked.
We excused ourselves to eat.
We did an interview for an online TV show.
We ate...

...then finally we grew some balls, grabbed my video camera and Chris' camera and went to MEET&GREET with the cast!

When Being "Guilty" Pays Off

If you have been following blog/twitter/facebook since this post about Spring Awakening, you'd know that spreading awareness about this show has become as much of my day as breathing, eating and sleeping.

Whether it is checking the @springtour blog, Totally Trucked, for a new entry....

...or checking the SPRING AWAKENING, The Guilty Ones-Denver Facebook Fan Page for updates on the show or new posts by my fellow Guilty Ones.

Through out this adventure I have texted, Tweeted, blogged, sang, danced, talked, vlogged, shouted, pranced, posted, pic'd and posed all in honor of my love for this show...

And you'd also know I don't regret a single minute of it!

I love organizing events and running promotions and over the last 2 years I have discovered that this aspect of my life should be apart of my career aspirations.

But enough boring about the future and growing up...

TONIGHT Spring Awakening opens at the Buell Theatre in Denver!

In 5 days, I will get to see this show I have worked so hard for & for the very first time!

An Actual Day in the Life!

SO, those of you who come to my blog and can read...(I know, RUDE Kat RUDE!)... can see that my blog is called A Day in the Life.

DUDE, I dunno if that is what actually ends up on my blog, but it was the cutest name I could think of then...

HONESTLY, if you actually wanted a day in my life, my Twitter is where it is at. I Tweet a LOT!

AND, if you follow my Twitter, you'll know that (1) my brain works on constantly random ways, (2) my personal life is quite the roller coaster right now and (3) I got a lot done on Monday.

THEREFORE, you are getting my day via Tweet!

The background info you need to know is that Sunday night, as I was driving away from work, my truck, Summer, started to act up and the rest of my night went like this:

Radio power fails, I turn on my hazards, my hazards click at half speed, my engine keeps threatening going idle, all warning lights on dashboard begin blinking at me, I make it off the Bypass to King Soopers' gas, fill my tank, attempt to start car, car battery is died, random girls at gas station let me jump Summer from their car as it is neg 4 outside, my car starts, i keep the radio low and keep all A/C-Heat off, girls drive away, I get back on road to my house, 1/2 way down road my headlights begin to shift in and out, 1/2 from there I lose my headlights and my hazards do not turn on, my roommate is on speaker phone with me in case of full breakdown, my engine keeps threatening going idle again, all warning lights on dashboard blink at me once, I pray out loud to God to just let me make it home, I make it to my street, turn left, make it down street, begin to lose steering power, yank my wheel to bring car in front of house, in front of out at an angle my car dies, I am home.

...So Monday...

Being 'Guilty' for Spring Awakening

Do you remember this post? The one where Wicked was AMAZING!?

Remember when I saw that SPRING AWAKENING was on tour en route to Denver?

Remember when I didn't say what Spring Awakening is or about...?

oops.

Well I hope to rectify that with this blog.

 SPRING AWAKENING takes its inspiration from one of literature's most controversial masterpieces - a work so daring in its depiction of teenage self-discovery, it was banned from the stage and not performed in its complete form in English for nearly 100 years.

It's Germany, 1891. A world where the grown-ups hold all the cards. The beautiful young Wendla explores the mysteries of her body, and wonders aloud where babies come from, till Mama tells her to shut it, and put on a proper dress.

Elsewhere, the brilliant and fearless young Melchior interrupts a mind-numbing Latin drill to defend his buddy Moritz- a boy so traumatized by puberty he can't concentrate on anything. Not that the headmaster cares. He strikes them both and tells them to return to their lesson.
One afternoon -in a private place in the woods- Melchior and Wendla meet by accident, and soon find within themselves a desire unlike anything they've ever felt.

As they fumble their way into one another's arms, Moritz flounders and soon fails out of school.

Well let me tell you my story about my relationship with SA:
 
I first heard of Spring Awakening when I stumbled across Charlotte Wakefield's You Tube [She played Wendla in the Original London Cast] and her channel has some of her memories from the show in video format. Since then she also added recordings of "Mama Who Bore Me" and "Whispering" after the London run was over.

& then you know of course that I saw the banner outside of Wicked.


What you don't know is after I got home I took to the interwebs and tracked down Spring Awakening on Facebook. Sure enough the Denver Center had made a fan page but there was something else added to the title:
The Guilty Ones.

You may be thinking: huh? Yeah. Me too.


At this point in my SA love story I hadn't heard all the songs, but alas, there is a song called... you guessed it: "The Guilty Ones"



BUT KAT! WHAT ARE THE GUILTY ONES!?


In short. I am one of them.

The history of The Guilty Ones starts in New York

but I am in the Denver group.

The Guilty Ones are the fans who act as the official street team of guriella marketers.

We bring it to the streets, yo!

Haha. But really, that is what I am doing. Because I love the music of this show!

BUT KAT! YOU SAID YOU LOVE THIS MUSICAL!

I do! I just have never seen it!

When I see it on the [first national tour] it will be the first time I see this show live!

Honestly, I see that as a testament to how awesome and powerful the music is...

It pulls you in!
