Am I the only one?

Am I the only one who isn't sold on this?

*takes deep breath*
I just can't. I have tried so hard to stay neutral until the movie...
&& I might eat my words come March because I want so desperately
to have my mind changed over these outfits but for realsthey look like
a blend between Queen Amidala reject outfits and X-men jumpsuits...

A few redesigns later and you've got the Tributes from District 12...
Although I would totally rock Effie's outfit to a costume party, no lie!

I guess I just pictured Cinna and his team designing them something more sleek...
Sure it would be mind-blowing but an equal balance between understated and fantastical.

"I am in a simple black unitard that covers me from ankle to neck.
Shiny leather boots lace up to my knees. But it's the fluttering cape
made of streams of orange, yellow, and red and the matching head-
piece that define this costume. Cinna plans to light them on fire just
before our chariot rolls into the streets.
[...]
My face is relatively clear of makeup, just a bit of highlighting
here and there. My hair has been brushed out and then braided
down my back in my usual style. " - page 67

I know that the movie adaptation will ultimately be different.
 But I stare at the picture above and think of an interview Hugh Jackman
did for X-men press; he said that the faux-leather suits were absolutely
awkward and impractical. Then I sit here and think of the weird rubbing
and squeaking noises that the suits Jennifer and Josh probably make while
walking around on set and I just can't--

*le sigh* I guess I am just sad and wish that I was as talented as
the folks on deviantART and could draw you my own idea..

So until I wake up one morning with the gift of illustration,
I will just have to leave you with a few I found...
via
I like everything here but the crown things...

via
I feel that this drawing gives off the idea of a layered costume which I liked.

via
I included this one because I think the firey headpiece
would have given the illusion of burning coals within the hair
and flickering fire would trail behind them...

IDK.
I am just a picky fangirl is all! ;)

7 Films Sat..oops..Sunday :: Week 4

Short and Sweet Overview: Watch 365 films in the year 2012.

Confused? READ THIS.

***
Every Saturday I am going to recap 7 movies I've watched that week!

Below you'll see a list with the film, the year, the director
&& maybe a quick blip of my feelings toward movie!

Sound fun!? I think so! Feel free to join in!
&& let me know in the comments if you do!

So here we go!
***
Sunday, January 22 - Saturday, January 28th:
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo :: 2011 :: David Fincher
    • I am wickedly loyal to the original Swedish movies so I went to see the "American" version for Daniel Craig lusting opportunities. It worked; I did lust after Craig's Mikael Blomkvist quite a lot. Also, I did like Roony Mara because Lisbeth Salander is one of those roles--a phenomenally complex character; you can't cast someone who can't act to play Salander, the role is too important.
      Overall, it was good but I still rate the Swedish film higher.
      FUN FACT: The director (Fincher) is from Colorado. Holla!
  • WALL E :: 2008 :: Andrew Stanton
    •  I love everything about this movie.
  • Wet Hot American Summer :: 2001 :: David Wain
    •  So funny. I love comedies like this!

  • Tangled Ever After :: 2012 :: Nathan Greno & Byron Howard
    •  I don't care that this is a 6min short film. It was the cutest 6mins of my week! I heart Maximus and Pascal!!!

  • The Incredible Hulk :: 2008 :: Louis Leterrier
    •  My next movie in Ryan's "you must watch all of the Avengers before Avengers" request. I also lawl'd at Lou Ferrigno's cameo!
  • The Prince & Me :: 2005 :: Martha Coolidge
    •  Please excuse me as I swoon over Luke Mably over and over.
  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo :: 2009 ::
    Niels Arden Oplev
    •  Män Som Hatar Kvinnor
    •  After seeing the new version, I had to jump on Netflix and re-watch this one; I just love listening to svenska so much! Michael Nyqvist still captures Mikael Blomkvist in a way that makes me oddly attracted to him and Noomi Rapace is obviously still a complete bad ass!
      Plus, I just love the way the story is told. This verison is just less likely to spell out every single detail (unlike the 2011 version) and asks the audience to puzzle out the mystery with Mikael and Lisbeth.
    •

PS. I forgot to post this yesterday & didn't realize until just now...
That's what I get for forgetting to schedule my post!
Next weeks shall be on time! ;)

Sunday, January 15 - Saturday, January 21st:
    Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol Poster
  • Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol :: 2011 :: Brad Bird
    •  I went in because of Simon Pegg and I left absolutely entertained! ps. Jeremy Renner is going to kick ass as Hawkeye!
  • She's the Man :: 2006 :: Andy Fickman
    •  I love this movie! Amanda Bynes is definitely one of my favs; she's hilarious and adorable. And you gotta love when a girl can play some kick ass soccer football. ;)
      Plus, Channing Tatum is a cutie pie.
  • Iron Man :: 2008 :: Jon Favreau
    •  Well. It's Iron Man.

  • Without a Paddle :: 2004 :: Steven Brill
    •  Such silly fun with a hilarious cast!

  • Waiting for Forever :: 2011 :: James Keach
    •  This movie is so beautiful in the loveliest strange way.
  • We Bought a Zoo :: 2011 :: Cameron Crowe
    • We Bought a Zoo Poster
    •  I am in love. This movie is beautiful! I am a total animal lover and if I had a crazy huge inheritance I would be out buying my own zoo right now!
      Not to mention Matt Damon, keeper of many swoons. He was very "handsome." And the little girl who played his daughter?! CAN I HAVE ONE!? She was too precious! "Their happy is too loud."
      The rest of the casting was brilliant and I can even say I didn't want to punch her too much, which is also saying something.

    Things I Think :: 69th Golden Globes

    Last night I watched the Golden Globes or
    The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

    Host: Ricky Gervais!
    • I heart Ricky! Spoiler alert: he wasn't in most of the show!
      At least he is laughing his way to the bank. ;)
    • Johnny Depp, how do you defy age?
    • PSA for Brad Pitt: CUT YOUR HAIRS!
    • Christopher Plummer, oh Captain Von Trapp, my Captain!
    • Ashon cleaned up his face and cut his hair and the world rejoiced!
    • Then there was those mandatory awkward pauses
      because the tech stopped working...
    • Julianne Moore is an adorable woman.
    • DOWNTON ABBEY FTW!
    • Why do I always forget that Kate Winslet is British?
    • Jake Gyllenhaal is attractive. This isn't new news.
    • other stuff happened, people won, I saw more cute black bow ties on!
    • Original Song was all like Elton John vs Madonna. That queen is PISSED. And by queen, I mean Queen Elton!
    • I wish Madonna would pull a Britney-go crazy and a Lohan-lose her career.
    • I am happy Michelle Williams is back in the A-list spotlight; she's lovely and adorable.
    • OH HAI BUFFY! Ohai SMG! Hey, girl, hey!
    • I have been a fan of Peter Dinklage since The Station Agent; so I am happy he won!
    • George Clooney, how are you so silverfoxy?!
    • I heart kids movies! They should win ALL THE AWARDS!
    • I missed a bit over my RAGE BLACKOUT.
    • Awwww Dustin Hoffman, I am sad that you are getting older than silverfoxy.
    • Claire Danes is precious. If anyone was going to take Hugh Dancy off the market, I am happy it was her.
    • You could go swimming in Thomas Jane's dimples.
      Those puppies are deep!
    • Helen Mirren is the shit. A total bamf.
    • Again, Morgan Freeman is the definition of classy.
    • Oh, RDJ. That is all.
    • Once I could actually see the whole dress, I liked Angelina Jolie's look.
    • Martin Scorsese, when you see the eyebrows first and the bow tie second!
    •  My fingers were crossed for New Girl but I am proud of Modern Family.
    • Sofia Vergara is The Cuteness dressed in Sexy.
    • As someone who didn't know of The Artist until this show, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was ROBBED!
      Love. Him.
    • Another disappoint was Meryl Streep winning for a role that should have been filled by an English actress. On the other hand, at least they didn't cast Madonna. #gag
    • Natalie Portman walking to the wrong mic to present...
      So cute.
    • Then George Clooney and his movie won and I was bored and disappointed again.
    So yes... Once again
    I watched an award show that was only worth my time because
    I had nothing better to do!

    Oh well.
    I hope you enjoy these pictures of pretty people in expensive clothes anyway!

    Ryan says Hey ladies.I say Hey, boy, heyyy!
    AND
    I leave you with this amazingness:

    Sunday, January 8 - Saturday, January 14th:
      Tangled Poster
    • Tangled :: 2011 :: Nathan Greno & Byron Howard
      •  I watched this at my parent's house with my mum; it was the first time she'd seen it. :)
    • Dead Like Me: Life After Death :: 2009 :: Stephen Herek
      •  I count this as a movie because can stand alone from it's TV series, kinda. You probably won't enjoy it as much but I love watching it when I don't have time to re-watch the whole series.
    • Water Lillies :: 2007 :: Céline Sciamma
      •  It was good? idk. It was like a foreign Spring Awakening that wasn't as traumatic and had synchronized swimming.
    • Life in a Day :: 2011 :: Kevin MacDonald and team
      •  So good. So beautiful. So happy I watched it again. (on Netflix)"Life in a Day is a crowdsourced documentary film comprising an arranged series of video clips selected from 80,000 clips submitted to the YouTube video sharing website, the clips showing respective occurrences from around the world on a single day, July 24, 2010."
        -via Wikipedia.
      • Yes, I submitted my own footage; no, it is not in the final film.
      • I first watched the final film project on a live YouTube stream from it's premiere at Sundance. I am definitely going to need to add it's DVD to my collection.
      Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy Poster
    • Hairspray :: 2007 :: Adam Shankman
      •  Link Larkin. That is all.
        Well, really I like this movie in general.
    • Jawbreaker :: 1999 :: Darren Stein
      •  I heart this cult classic! ♥
    • Tinker Tailor Solider Spy :: 2011 :: Tomas Alfredson
      •  I think this movie is further proof that I was probably born in the wrong country. I loved everything about this film.

    7 Films Saturday! {Week 1}

    Remember Telly Tuesday?
    Well. 7 Films Saturday is a lot like that!

    Short and Sweet Overview: Watch 365 films in the year 2012.

    What Is This Challenge?

    Your mission, should you choose to accept it,
    is to spend the next year delving into the world of film
    by watching one film that you have never seen before per day.

    How Do I Participate?

    The extent of how you participate is totally up to you,
    however it is recommended that you post some form of a review,
    whether it be as simple as a star rating or as extensive as a critical film analysis.
    Some also do graphics along with their reviews.

    When Do We Start?

    Like most 365 challenges, the best day to start is January 1st so that you end on December 31st.

    But Isn’t This A Leap Year? It Should Be 366.

    Consider it a free day or a bonus film, I could care less.

    What If I Can’t Watch A Film Each Day?

    No one is monitoring how you reach 365 films,
    so if you fall behind or watch ahead a few movies, that is your choice.

    {via}

    My Verison: 7 Films Saturday!
    Much like Telly Tuesday, every Saturday I am going to recap 7 movies I've watched that week!

    Unlike the 365 Challenge, I can re-watch a film and have it count.

    Also, I might not watch 1 movie per day.
    It might be that I watch 2,0,1,2,0,1,1 in a week.

    hehehe see what I did there? #nerd

    Below you'll see a list with the film, the year, the director
    && maybe a quick blip of my feelings toward movie!

    Sound fun!? I think so! Feel free to join in!
    && let me know in the comments if you do!

    So here we go!
    ***

    Sunday, January 1 - Saturday, January 7th:
    • Captain America: The First Avenger :: 2011 :: Joe Johnston
      •  It is Ryan's mission to have me watch every Avenger movie he deems worthy before Whedon's Avengers is released this summer. I am ok with it! ;)
    • Easy A :: 2010 :: Will Gluck
      •  Of course this isn't the first time I have ever seen this movie but I love it each time I watch it all the same!
    • Garden State :: 2004 :: Zach Braff
      •  This movie is just perfection. It is in my TOP, always will be.
    • Winter's Bone :: 2010 :: Debra Granik
      •  Well if that isn't Katniss in training for Jennifer Lawrence, I don't know what is!
    • The Answer Man :: 2009 :: John Hindman
      • I have seen the ending to this movie about 5 times before this. It's nice to finally see the end. Also, I love Lauren Graham.
    • The People I've Slept With :: 2009 :: Quentin Lee
      •  I actually really liked this one. It was just sitting in my Netflix queue and I am glad it was. Plus the mysterious hottie was the Asian Power Ranger from my childhood! Random.
    • Me and Orson Welles :: 2008 :: Richard Linklater
      •  leEfron. In a period-piece. That is all.

    What have you watched this year?
